Kukris, Pangas and Machettes

REME Weapon 330 - Pair of Kukris (WD Issue)

These are the Kukris issued to the Imperial Gurkha troops. They are reputed to have been developed from the Macedonian short sword, used in the time of Alexander the Great.

This weapon was in use in the 19th Century, at the same time as the spears and arrows (Weapon No 329).

A pair of modern American machettes made in USA in 1945. The origin of the machette was the Caribbean, where it was used for cane cutting.
