50 mm Light Mortar (Leichter Granatwerfer '36)
The standard light mortar of the German Army during World War 2. Designed
for high angle fire only (not less than 45°), it is muzzle loaded and
trigger fired. It is a two-man load, the base plate with traversing and
cross levelling being carried on the back of the one man and the barrel
and elevating screw on the back of the other.

OML 2 inch Mortar
This ordnance was introduced into service in January 1939. It was used
throughout World War 2 in 3 different versions, Infantry, Airborne and
Carrier, which differ in minor details. It fired 5 different types of bombs
to a maximum range of 525 yards and consisted of a barrel, a breech piece
and a spade or base plate (carrier version). The ordnance on display was
captured from the IRA and is a combination of an infantry barrel and carrier
base plate.
