PERMANENT WEAPONS DISPLAY

The Armourers' Hall

The lights are in, the interactive is installed, the text panels and photographs are hung and the cases have been cleaned. After months of hard work the Museum is very pleased to announce that the Armourers' Hall is open.

Over 100 weapons are on display, ranging from the gunpowder era, such as the flintlock used during the Napoleonic Wars, via the percussion musket, a type used in the American Civil War, to automatic weapons, such as the Maxim Machine Gun of World War 1. Other weapons included are the Russian AK47 and the British Army's SA80 as well as a selection of unique edged weapons from around the world.

The new display was opened by the renowned expert on antique weapons, Mr Bill Harriman, a regular contributor to the BBC's Antiques Roadshow. All attending the opening agreed that the display was a splendid addition to the museum offering a mouth-watering selection of firearms from the 17th century up to the present day.
