The unveiling Ceremony of the David Rowlands Oil Painting "Sergeant CJG (Fred) Comber, MC REME" was held in the Prince Philip Hall at the REME Museum of Technology on 6 October 2006.
The painting was commissioned by the REME Central Charitable Trust and donated to the REME Museum of Technology by the Trust's Trustees.

Sergeant Comber's MC Citation was solemnly read aloud by Major Adam Kaley, then Major General Tim Tyler gave an address to the guests referring to Sergeant Fred Comber MC, "He stands a beacon to the rest of us, whatever rank, whatever age". Major General Tim Tyler and Sergeant Fred Comber then unveiled the oil painting together.

Guests include the Comber family, Mr & Mrs Ronald Comber, (Fred's parents), Mr & Mrs Reginald Gates, (Fred's wife's parents) and Mr David Rowlands (the artist).  Also included were Sergeant J Mills, his crew member, and Major Daryl Hirst, his Officer Commanding at the time.

Military guests, as well as Major General Tim Tyler and Major Adam Kaley were Brigadier Nigel Williams, Brigadier Tony Ball, Col & Mrs Richard Bennett, Colonel David Cowan, Col David Thorpe, Lt Col Steve Smith and Lt Col Bill Cleasby.
