To learn about the Blitz and the Morrison Shelter. To experience a re-enactment of an air-raid.
Short introduction on construction of the Morrison Shelter, followed by practical role playing re-enactment of an air-raid.
Two pupils are selected to be ARP and Rescuer - their jobs are described and they are issued with helmets and gas masks.
Rest of group review selection of items with a view to choosing useful items to take into the shelter.
Sound Siren Warning - pupils get into the shelter.
Discuss feelings about being inside the shelter.
Discuss comfort, apprehension and duration of stay.
Sound the Siren All Clear - ARP and Rescuer help pupils out of the shelter.
Discuss items selected and their effective use in the shelter.
