Soldier's Kit Bag Workshop Pupils handle and sort a 1950s uniform and a Modern Day uniform and see the different materials used (eg wool/cotton, buttons/zips and Velcro) and the different designs. | Homefront and Evacuees Documents and Artefacts Workshop Documents and artefacts include rations books (food and clothes) and aerogrammes. Pupils will hear personal experiences of evacuees. They pretend to be an evacuee who has been sent to the country for the first time. They will draw a picture about their lives for their parents. |
Parades and Memorials Documents and Artefacts Workshop Documents and artefacts include photographs, event programmes and objects. Pupils will study photographs of military and civilian memorials and use these as research for designing their own war memorial. Children will also be able to make their own poppies. |
