Aim

To learn about simple circuits by wiring up British Army Field Telephones and the Museum's specially made Morse Code Transmitters.

 
Method

  1. Pupils are divided into pairs and given team names: Zero Alpha or Zero Bravo (Teams are made up of two pairs).

  2. Teams wire up their Field Telephones.

  3. Teams take it in turns at phoning the other teams hidden behind a screen and asking and answering questions.

  4. Teams then wire up their Morse Code Transmitters using wire and crocodile clips.

  5. Teams take it in turns at sending and receiving secret words in Morse Code.

  6. A Morse Code Decoding Activity Sheet is used to record and decipher incoming words.

  7. Teams use the Field Telephones to speak to the other teams to confirm they received the secret word correctly.
