To explore the properties of real objects from the Museum's collection using two Venn Diagrams: Light and Conductors & Insulators.
Light - This Venn Diagram has three overlapping circles.
Identify each of the objects by matching it with the correct Description Card which contains a brief description of the object and its use.
Predict which objects will be opaque, translucent or transparent.
Sort the objects by using a torch to test if the object is opaque, translucent or transparent or both (some objects are made from materials with 1, 2 or 3 of these properties).
Place objects in the appropriate parts on the Venn Diagram.
Record their results on the Activity Sheet.
Record what they discovered about this test on the Activity Sheets.
Conductors & Insulators - This Venn Diagram has two overlapping circles.
Identify each of the objects by matching it with the correct Description Card which contains a brief description of the object and its use.
Predict which objects will be conductors or insulators.
Sort the objects by using a simple circuit to test if the object is a conductor, insulator or both (some objects are made from materials with both properties).
Place objects in the appropriate parts on the Venn Diagram.
Record their results.
Complete the drawings on the Activity Sheets.
