This vehicle (in UN white) is currently on display at the Museum
GKN Ltd planned a replacement vehicle for the Humber Pig in the early 1970s. It was given the designation AT105 and after a prolonged development eventually came into service in the late 1980s as the Saxon. Its role includes convoy protection, APC, anti riot vehicle and armoured ambulance. A recovery variant was built, essentially the same as the APC but with an externally mounted winch on the left side.
The vehicle has an armoured hull with four wheels and a front mounted Bedford diesel engine. The rear doors give access. Over 500 Saxons of various types were ordered for the British Army.
The Museum has an early prototype of this vehicle. The photographs show this vehicle in camouflage and UN colours.
