If this was an ordinary year we would be welcoming families to our outdoor assault course, planning for our Summer Fair and welcoming the last few school groups of the term to our Museum in Lyneham. Instead, we’ve turned our minds to keeping young people busy while they are staying at home using our website and social media accounts.

We have spent the last eight weeks sharing art and STEM activities for primary school pupils under the hashtag #rememuseumchallenge. It has been a lot of fun (and a bit challenging!) to come up with new ideas every week but we are proud to see so many of you giving these activities a go and sharing your amazing creations. We’ve got plenty more exciting challenges to come over the next weeks and months, based on the National Curriculum, REME history and the fascinating artefacts that we care for at the Museum. Our #REMEMuseumChallenge will help keep families busy, creative and engaged until things return to normal.

If you are enjoying #rememuseumchallenge and would like to support us, please nominate our activities for an award on the Kids in Museums website. You need to scroll to the bottom of the page to submit a nomination.

Kids in Museums is a charity that works with museums to help us welcome and include children, young people and families in everything we do. The new Family Friendly Museum From Home awards celebrate the creative virtual ideas museums and other historic places are sharing to keep families occupied and entertained during lockdown.

The deadline for nominations is 17.00 on 30 June 2020.

You can find out more about Kids in Museums at their website.
