From June 2024 until mid-2025, the REME Museum will be delivering an online campaign to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of D-Day and other key operations in 1944-45. 

We'll be sharing articles, images and social media posts through research from our Archives and external sources, which will help us to tell the story of REME units and individuals who served on D-Day and on until the end of the war in Europe. Our daily and weekly updates will be loosely based on the template of War Diary reports used by actual REME units while on operations. Please bear in mind there will be some inaccuracies in comparison to real war diaries, due to needing to include as much information as possible from different units for certain days.

Here are a few examples of the updates we'll be providing over the next few months:

Alongside these reports, we'll also be sharing more of the personal experiences of some men who served with REME in those operations. These more personal memories will be shared in handwritten diary format, for example:
