Recently we have received some amazing reviews from our visitors and supporters. We are delighted to announce that we were once again designated a VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction. Last month The Bath & Wiltshire Parent wrote a lovely article describing their day out at the REME Museum. Plus, reviews from visitors on TripAdvisor have been so kind that we’ve been given an award!

Here are 6 reasons why you should come for a day out at the REME Museum:

1. We’re family friendly

If you’re looking for things to do with the kids this weekend, look no further. During the school holidays we regularly have family friendly activities, so check out our Events to find out what’s happening soon. We also have trails, quizzes and a new play park to make sure everyone has fun. Check out our Family Fun page for more information.

2. We have amazing facilities

Crown’s Café has been highly recommended by many in their reviews – we almost don’t need to say anything ourselves! Many tell us we have very tasty bacon baps!

We’re also very happy that visitors agree our play park is great for all ages! We try to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy so you can make it a proper family day out.

The café also sells delicious cakes if you have a sweet tooth!

3. We’re award-winning

This month we were awarded the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award 2021! We are in the top 10% of venues worldwide thanks to our visitors for rating us so highly in their reviews.

While it isn’t technically an award, The Bath & Wiltshire Parent did describe us as a “wonderful hidden jewel”, which we’re taking as a huge win.

We're so grateful to all who have left us such nice reviews so far.

4. We're in a great location

Just outside of Chippenham, Wiltshire in Lyneham, the Museum is easy to find along the A3102. If you live locally or are staying in the area, the Museum is a great place to visit near you!

Fancy a day out with the kids somewhere different but not too far away? We’re only 20 minutes away from Chippenham or Swindon, 35 minutes from the lovely Cotswold town of Cirencester and under an hour from the famous Stonehenge. Find out more about Getting Here.

On your way for a weekend break in Bath or Bristol? Hop off the M4 at J16 and find yourself at the Museum in approximately 15 minutes! Take a couple of hours to enjoy some interactive history and refuel (with those bacon baps) for the rest of your journey.

5. We have things to do whatever the weather

Wondering what to do on a rainy day? Look no further, the Museum is here with lots of things to do come rain or shine. When it’s raining, take shelter in our galleries with plenty to see and do. Warm up with a warm cup of hot chocolate when the weather catches you by surprise. On nicer days, enjoy the sun in our play park or outdoor café seating area.

6. We have some fascinating interactive exhibits

From armoured vehicles and weapons, to medals and berets, there are so many different objects to take a look at. Learn something new when you come to the museum and have fun while doing so. Take a walk inside a wooden replica of a recovery vehicle to experience life as a REME soldier. Use the audio guides to learn more with original film footage.
