From uniform to menus, these objects each tell a unique story of individual experiences with REME across the globe.

Plaque, Caricature of REME Badge, c 1960

This plaque was made by prisoners of Pudu Jail, Kuala Lumpur and purchased by the donor whilst serving with Anti-Aircraft Workshop.

Photo Album, c 1950s

Sergeant Read-Bone served with REME from 1953 to 1961 and was primarily posted to Singapore. A collection of three photo albums document his experiences of service with REME. This elaborate album conceals a music box in its spine.

Plaque, Mount Everest Expedition, 1976

Through the 1960s and 70s, Colonel Peacock took part in and lead a number of expeditions across the globe. This plaque is one of six recently donated to the collection that commemorate these events.

Malaya Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Uniform, c 1950s

Lt Col Moore served with REME in Malaya and Kenya during the 1950s. This wrap formed part of the uniform of the EME Corps in Malaya and was presented to him as a gift.

Door Sign, c 1940s

This door sign may have belonged to Colonel H D Makgill-Crichton Maitland as Deputy Director of Mechanical Engineers (DDME) 1 Corps, 1944. It was presented to the Museum by a generous individual whose father was a cook for the Colonel during visits to Kenya.

A square piece of silver colour metal, engraved with C.R.E.M.E 49 Div, Normandy 6 June 1944 and signed by DDME 1 Corps.

Medals awarded to CSM Gardner

Each medal set offered to the collection tells a unique story of the experience of an individual soldier from REME.

This set, awarded to CSM Gardner, includes a General Service Medal with Northern Ireland clasp; NATO Service Medal with Kosovo clasp; Iraq Medal; Golden Jubilee Medal 2002; Accumulated Campaign Service Medal and Volunteer Reserves Service Medal.
